Many adoptees have been asked "Aren't you glad you weren't aborted?", what is your response to that?

This question evokes deep contemplation, as I feel that my general opinion on the matter falls somewhere in the middle. In total fairness, my birth mother's life would have been so much easier if I'd never been born. There are dreams that she would have chased and achieved, so much money that she could've saved, and a lifetime of wondering that she and I would not have to endure. In choosing to give me life, I believe that she wished to grant herself a new beginning. However, using an infant as a crutch for happiness was an unsustainable practice that harmed us both. I was taken away from her by DHS when I was three months old, after being discovered severely neglected, starved, and abandoned. Given that my birth mother struggled with untreated mental health issues, I do not believe that it was her intention to cause me harm, but she did not know how to 'be' a mother and I nearly died as a result. I am appreciative of the life that I have lived, but I bear so much trauma from what happened to me in my early life. My birth father was and still is, a married man, who likely wishes that she'd never materialized his mistake in the form of a human being. So to those who ask if l'd rather have been aborted, know that I believe it would have been in my birth mother's best interest to abort me and seek vigorous mental health treatment. It is my opinion that the wounds I carry (because of her inability to parent) could have been avoided, and that in many ways, I wish they had
